Overview

State Establishment “Dnipropetrovsk Medical Academy of Health Ministry of Ukraine” (SE “DMA”) is a center of education, science and culture in highly-developed industrial Dnipropetrovsk region. Being one of the oldest educational institutions of Ukraine, academy was based on the 15th of September 1916 as the Katerynoslav higher female medical courses. For the years of its existence SE “DMA” has prepared 50 thousand of doctors, pharmacists and nurses. Nowadays SE “DMA” is one of the prominent higher educational institutions of Ukraine with unique integrated continuous training of specialists at three levels: premedical, undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

The academic staff considers constant improvement of educational quality to be the main task corresponding to present requirements. More than 600 teachers (among them 100 doctors and 350 candidates of sciences, 1 academician and 3 corresponding members of National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, 1 corresponding member of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine) help to master extremely difficult, responsible but infinitely grateful specialty at 7 faculties of medical academy (three faculties of general medicine, dentistry, two international and post-graduate studies faculties).

Our academy is a higher educational institution of the 4th accreditation level with the integrated continuous training of specialists at premedical, undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Premedical level includes preparatory course the main goal of which is the language training and studying of general education disciplines.

Undergraduate studies include training in such specialties as general medicine, pediatrics, stomatology, clinical pharmacy, pharmacy.

Postgraduate studies include internship, master degree courses, PhD courses, clinical fellowship and specialization.

DMA has partnership with higher education institutions of Germany, France, the USA, Canada, Russia, the People’s Republic of China, some organizations in Sweden, the Netherlands, Great Britain, etc. DMA is the member of the European Association of the International Medical Education, actively cooperates with World Health Organization and other establishments.

The academy has all conditions for students’ all-round development. If you are interested in scientific activity, you will be gladly accepted in students’ scientific societies.

Lifestyle

The main objective of Dnipropetrovsk Medical Academy is not only to prepare qualified professionals, but also to upbring healthy, physically developed, mentally stable, strong spirit and well-built doctors. Sport and social work is a great part of it. The Academy has done a lot to expand and improve sports facilities for students, staff and faculty members and residents.

Sport – base of DMA includes modern sport complex, which consists of four halls. There are the classes of physical education, fitness groups and sports clubs. In 1972 there was built a 25-meter open-air swimming pool, and a little bit later there were built a tennis court and an open-air playground for athletics, general physical fitness, volleyball, football, badminton. Each summer health and sport camp “Health” (“Zdorovia”), that is situated near the Samara River, works in Orlovshchyna (Novomoskovsk district). It consists of 210 places. Every year about 450 students, staff, faculty and members of their families improve their health there.

Nowadays, the physical rehabilitation, sports medicine and valeology department presents 12 different sport sections such as athletics, volleyball, basketball, football, badminton, table tennis, dancing, weight lifting, wrestling (sambo) etc. There are over 300 students engaged. Every year, more than 1,400 students and staff take part in numerous sports events (about 30 events per year), which are held in DMA. Student sport competitions after Galina Romanova, freshmen cups, student dormitory tournaments, employee competitions after Professor Popkov and other games become traditional. Sports and music festival “Medical Students for a healthy lifestyle” (“Studenty-mediki za zdoroviy sposib zhittia”) is held in the World Health Day.

By the decision of the administration “Health days” (“Dni zdorovia”) event has been organized on a sport base on weekends since 2011. Everyone – students and staff – can train in recreational groups of swimming, shaping, table tennis, volleyball, football and athletic gymnastics. The comprehensive rehabilitation program “Healthy backbone” (“Zdorovia hrebta”) has been launched since 2013. Students, staff of the Academy are engaged in this program and thus improve their health.

As part of the social initiatives of the President “Children are the future of Ukraine” (“Dity – maibutne Ukraini”) and the regional program “Good health is a successful life” (“Mitsne zdoroviia – uspishne zhittia”) “Swimming School” (“Shkola plavannia”) was opened at the base of the DMA pool.

Hostel regulations

To settle in the hostel student should write the application to the rector. He is obliged to undergo X-ray as well as full medical check-up prior to residing in hostel. The settlement order is valid only for period of 1 academic year. Annualy at the onset of academic year you should apply for resettlement for upcoming year.

You should surrender your room as well as bedding to hostels regulators at the end of academic year, before taking of for vacations.

  • You would be evicted from the hostel, in case:
  • you violated of internal regulations;
  • there is a mess in your room;
  • you were smoking and drinking alcohol in premises of hostel;
  • you had not paid your room rent.

  2. Transcript of marks for Secondary level exams.
  3. Transcript of marks for Higher Secondary level exams.
