To study MBBS in China, a student doesn’t need to write any entrance test or pay hefty capitation fees to Chinese medical colleges that enjoy wide universal acclaim. These have come top draws for the international community of students, particularly those from India. China has emerged as a rewarding destination for doing MBBS over the past decade. Another plus is, many Chinese universities are offering MBBS in English medium. The entire teaching process in the Chinese medical colleges that offer classes in English are regulated by the Chinese government. The Chinese Ministry of Education has put in place a new and a strict regulation for standardization of MBBS teaching in the medium of English for the benefit of the international students. It is called the ‘Provision for Quality Control Standards on Undergraduate Medical Education in English for International Student in China’. In practice since 2007, this provision aims at improving the educational experience of students pursuing an MBBS degree in China.

In China, there are 49 medical universities which are accredited to the Chinese government for enrolling international students for the MBBS course. The medicine profession has remained as one of the most rewarding promising careers across the globe. So, what does an Indian student need to do in order to get into a leading Chinese medical college? The basic requirement is simple. The candidates need to pass the 10 +2 Higher Secondary Examination or any other equivalent exam from a recognized board of education. The candidates must aggregate 60% marks in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. These subjects are compulsory. The minimum age for qualifying is 17 years by the end of the year of application, that is by the 31st of December. The candidates who meet these eligibility criteria gain smooth entry into a medical college in China.
