It’s a great pleasure to write the foreword for this edition.
As a part of an evolving team of medical educators I am glad to announce that presently we all are working towards creating a superior academic environment across all our partnered Chinese universities. Creation and maintenance of a highly productive study culture is our aim and in view of it we organise a number of academic programs round the year.
Our elite FMGE is a multimodality program comprised of theory classes (both in person and online), clinical postings, test and discussion series during the academic semester(s) and a “100 day residential all subject crash course” at our JKP, Sonarpur campus at the end of MBBS course in China.
As a part of this program we have sent a number of subject experts from India to our partnered Chinese universities over last 1 year. They have taught different subjects like anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, community medicine, pathology, microbiology (online),basic clinical workshop to our students in various universities.We have also organized several online classes broadcast from our India office(s) conducted by eminent Indian faculties.
Recently we have introduced ultramodern “ Online Exam Software ” for real time simulated mock test practices on various subjects. We believe it will help students to get that “exam day feel” many times before the actual FMG exam day.
At present we are working towards bringing some changes in the overall modalities of academic delivery from MED. We are going to introduce multi-subject theory classes during vacation at multiple centers across India. Classes will be conducted by local medical faculties from different Indian medical colleges. We already run our clinical observership program in several partnered hospitals across India. The next one is due in august, 2016.
One more novel concept we have tried as a pilot project in the current semester in one of the universities and the result was very promising. As per this we have deployed one resident medical coordinator (a medical Doctor cum teacher himself) for an entire semester to actively mentor and monitor students’ academic progress. This concept was really welcomed by all our students and other stakeholders. In coming months we are looking forward to take more medical teachers/coordinators on board for this unique purpose.
Connections create success. Keeping this in mind we are going to organize parent meets state and region wise in upcoming weeks. We are planning to reach each and every parent across all batches from all universities and shall have one to one interaction with everyone regarding all the academic and behavioral issues of their wards. Hope this will impact our program with tremendous positivity and will help to reach our goal of making all our students well-trained and qualified doctors in India.
