Southwest Medical University shared a notice for its International students in which they thanked the initiative of Saraswati Online.Com for providing Online classes to the students. In the notice, they also requested the students to attend the classes on a regular basis.
Saraswati Online.Com will be conducting MCQ Practice test in Dali University, Jinan University, Southern Medical University and Southwest Medical University from 21st March 2020. Three MCQ tests will be conducting on 21st March 2020, 11th April 2020 and 2nd May 2020 respectively. Read the full notice for further details.
The second semester of 2019-2020 academic year is scheduled to start on February 24(Monday). Based on the current situation of the epidemic and according to the unified requirements of the higher authorities, the university has decided to postpone the opening date. The specific date is in discussion and will be notified then.
The Evolving Trends in Medical Education (ETME)-2019, the 4th International conference, held in LuZhou, co-hosted by Southwest Medical Univeristy, has been a successful in not just understanding but also implementing those discussed in ETME-2016, for medical education, International MBBS Program in China. The conference was attended by various Medical Universities in South Asia. The guest of honour was Ms. Ma Zhonghui, the Deputy Mayor of Luzhou city.
ETME-2019, like it’s predecessor emphasised on bridging the gap between International MBBS program and standard undergraduate medical program. As more and more foreign students are being enrolled for International MBBS program, the need for standardisation of curriculum has always been the main agenda of ETME. It’s has been an uphill task to meet the challenges faced and various issues related to standardisation, including managing students of different countries, were discussed in this edition of ETME.
The distinguished guest speakers from India & Nepal gave insight on Medical Education & Medical Licensing exams in their respective countries, thereby comparing with international MBBS program and identifying the areas that needs a significant attention in International MBBS program.
ETME – 2019 had many original articles presented in technical sessions and deservingly, a paper from each session was awarded with Best Paper award. The technical sessions included papers on Pedagogy; Content & Syllabus; Innovations in teaching & use of technology; Licensing examination: Teaching, Learning approaches & differences and Student Management. The paper presentations and discussions were overwhelming and the newer methods discussed can be put into practice.
The panel discussion on campus discipline and academic discipline was attended by Directors, Deans, Academicians & personnel from administration addressed some common issues faced by every university. It was intriguing and informative.
This edition of ETME, for the first time, had participation and paper presentation by alumni of Southwest Medical University, LuZhou; Dali Univeristy, Dali; Jinan University, Guangzhou & Southern Medical University, Guangzhou.
For guiding the foreign students from India & Nepal about the licensing exams in their respective countries, A Handbook on Indian Medical Licensing Examination – FMGE was released & the same was shared with all the universities participating in ETME-2019; and Dr. Ankur Shah, Executive Member of Nepal Medical Council addressed about Nepal Licensing Examination to all the universities participated in ETME-2019.
Saraswati Online.Com hosted a Sino-Indian Friendship meet and dinner on 23rd March, 2019 at The Gateway Hotel, Kolkata to mark friendship and cooperation between the two nations. The meet was attended by delegation from Southwest Medical University, Luzhou, PR China led by Professor Liao Bin, General Secretary of Southwest Medical University. Professor Bin mentioned in his speech about the fifteen year long friendship that Southwest Medical University has shared with SaraswatiOnline.Com and their successful collaboration over the years in producing successful MBBS doctors and also mentioned his desire to strengthen the bond further. Mr. Zha Liyou, Consul General of PR China in Kolkata attended the meet with his wife and colleague from the Consul office. Mr. Liyou shed some light on the prospects of Sino-Indian friendship and also promised to extend his full support to strengthen the bond between the two nations and talked about his hope that more and more students will take admission into Chinese universities to pursue higher education . Dr, Pradip Kumar Mitra, Director of Medical Education in West Bengal attended along with other distinguished dignitaries from the medical field. The alumni doctors were also present and revisited old memories of their student life. Dr. Partha Sarathi Ganguli, Chief Mentor of Saraswati Online.Com in his speech mentioned about the brotherhood between these two nations and how if these two countries get together, it can emerge as one of the super powers of the world. The meet concluded with a sumptuous dinner.
In 2008 the Jyotirmoy Education and Welfare Foundation was established by Saraswati Online.Com in order to provide an avenue for higher education to the suburbs of Kolkata. Delegation from Southwest Medical University led by Prof. Liao Bin, Secretary, Southwest Medical University visited the Jyotirmoy Knowledge Park campus on 22nd March, 2019, Friday during their Kolkata visit. The delegation was welcomed by Dr. Partha Sarathi Ganguli, President, Jyotirmoy Education and Welfare Foundation and the staff members of JKP. The students of Jyotirmoy Public School showcased a dance performance depicting the festival of Holi as the delegation visited just the day after the festival of colours. The students of Saraswati Yoga Mandir also performed an artistic Yoga for the guests. The motive was to give the delegation a taste of the Indian culture in a very short span of time. The programme ended with gift presentation and group photo session.
A Sino-Indian Friendship Meet and dinner was organized at The Calcutta Rowing Club by Saraswati Online.Com on 21.07.2018. The dinner was attended by 20 students and 1 teacher from Southwest Medical University, Sichuan, PR China. Dr. Partha Sarathi Ganguli – Chief Mentor, SaraswatiOnline.Com along with Dr. Pradeep Mitra – Officer of Special Duty Multispecialty Hospital, Govt. of West Bengal and Dr. Munshi – Head of Pharma Divisions, National Medical College were present among the dignitaries. The alumni of SaraswatiOnline.Com were specially invited to join the dinner. The evening started with introduction with the alumni and was followed by a Video which showed the Activities of SaraswatiOnline.Com and ended with a sumptuous dinner.
Southwest medical university conducted a weekend sports meet on 14th to 16th April 2017. There were 22 universities has participated in it, Firstly there was a march-past, followed to that there was a dance performance given by each college students. In that International students of SWMU Has given a wonderful dance performance.
On 28th April 2017 the Southwest Medical University has organised so many international students along with four monitors a one day tour to Chishui. which is the most beautiful tourist spot of Sichuan province.
Students started from the university at early morning 7 pm to have some really new Chinese experience.
Events conducted at Chishui : The first performance in tour was all the students wore those white peaceful dresses to witness some amazing techniques of Taiji and the best part is even we were taught some good kunfu tricks. Then students went to see some waterfalls, bamboo forest and Jurassic plants. After the safari we had a delicious lunch. After the lunch students were taken to another landscape where we participated in a mountain claiming contest. That was a totally a new experience.
Next the students were taken to Vinegar factory where they were served some good quality vinegar and also they saw the producer of the vinegar factory. Overall the tour was highly satisfied and will be the good lifetime memory of all students.
